Europe: Venice to Vienna (Austria)

Next stop is Vienna

We took a night train to Vienna from Venice. It was the first night train which was not bad. It's hard to sleep when there are many people on the train but if you are lucky you might have 3 seats for yourself. Booking the night train you just have to pay 7 euros more which is a lot cheaper than staying in a hostel.
The most popular hostel in Vienna would be Wombat hostel but it's fully booked so we went to another hostel just another block away, Ruthensteiner. It was good actually. They were friendly and provided good information for us to travel around.

We were free in the afternoon so we went out with a new friend from the hostel to walk around in the city. We went by Hotel Sacher to try its famous chocolate cake. It has been the most famous cake in the world for more than 175 years!!! It's a chocolate cake with apricot jam and chocolate icing. It was served with a portion of unsweetened whipped cream. It's actually good with a cup of coffee which is called Wiener Melange.

We walked a long the shopping street that evening, buying some stuff from H&M. The prices were cheaper comparing to other stores. Well, in Japan there is only one store right now in Harajuku and it's newly opened so shopping H&M in Vienna was pretty good for me :)

There were a lot of people playing music along the street. The musical instrument in the picture is kinda interesting. I had never seen it before~

They were real good at dancing and could attract a lot of people to see them after they started for a few minutes.

Coming to Vienna we couldn't miss going to art museums. We went to to museumsquartier which is one of the ten largest cultural complexes in the world. It consists of 2 parts; Leopold and MUMOK. You can choose to go for only one museum or both. I remembered we paid around 16 euros for both museum. If you are interested to go for more than these 2 museum there are also other types of tickets. I am a person who doesn't really have interests in arts but going to these museums was worth for me, it was fun and enjoyable.
Get to the museum: You can go by subway (U-Bahn): U2 or U3, or by bus 48a or city bus 2a, or by tram 49 pass the Volkstheater.

Albertina is another interesting arts collection in Vienna. It's the largest and the most important graphic collection in the world.

This was a tour up to a mountain, went by wine garden and stopped at the restaurant on the top of the mountain. The scenery was very nice but it was pretty simple. It'd be good if you have many days to spend in Vienna so you can take your time and see around. I wouldn't recommend this trip to those who stay only a few days there even though the tour takes only a few hours but it takes a while to get to the pick up point.

Another place that you shouldn't miss is Schönbrunn Palace. The surrounding buildings and the huge park inside is one of the most significant cultural monuments in Austria. The castle was built to rival French Versailes in Baroque beauty and importance.

That's it for Austria. We spent only 3 days 2 nights there. We were recommended to try Wiener Schnitzel but we did not have time to look for it. Wonder what it tastes like?!?!
